SHORT STORY TIME!!

Tails and the Tipoid: The Blue Eyes That Met"

One bright sunny day, Tails decided to cruise around the skies without his prized Tornado plane. Enjoying the breeze and fresh air, he seemingly glided on the clouds. Suddenly, Tails felt himself get jerked around by some of the strong delta winds. Try as he could, the gusts were just too strong for him; not to mention he had no way of contacting anybody for help. For the moment, Tails was afraid the winds would never let him down. But just as quickly as the winds scooped him up, he was thrown right back down to one of the many floating islands. Falling too fast, Tails couldn't recover fast enough to avoid crash landing in the trees, blacking out on the impact.

Propped up on some very thin branches sat a dreary Tails as he finally came to. The sun was still up, but he didn't know how much time had passed, or if it was even the same day. Before have the chance to move his body, the small branches gave way. Using his hands, Tails managed to grab a thicker branch during his fall. As he looked around to breathe, his eye caught a strange looking bird taking careful time to arrange its feathers. Too soon however though, the branch Tails had grasped earlier snapped.

Even though Tails was more prepared this time, he still ended up with a bumpy landing on the last stable branch near the bottom of the trunk. This in turned startled the bird, which was relatively larger than Tails had expected. It stood as sturdy as stone with its crown held high and wide-eyes at its unexpected company. Tails did his best to not make any sudden movements.

"...Sorry," the little fox murmured,"I didn't mean to scare you like that."

He eased his way down to sit on the branch, in hopes not to cause any alarm. The bird kept its eyes fixed on Tails as he found himself at eye level. Tails sat in silence and waited with anticipation of what this creature would do next. The bird began to study this new being in its presence, as its eyes fell upon the twin tails and odd looking feet. Tails only watched in silence as the bird returned eye contact and cocked its head to the side in a confused matter, its crown not so stiff.

"What a peculiar boy," the bird thought to itself. It studied Tails once more and let is wing relax as it bend its head down to continue fixing its feathers.

Tails continued to watch for a short time, watching the bird pluck old feathers from itself. The bird itself, soon walked away further into the forest. Tails jumped down and grabbed the largest feather he could find, figuring he could analyze it when he got home. He made sure to avoid the winds as much as he could.

When the results came back on the bird, Tails discovered the name of the species.

"Tipoid? Even I think that's an odd name for a flightless bird," Tails pondered as he reflected back on the experience while staring at the night sky.

"I wonder if I'll ever see one again."

The End!

:bulletred::bulletred::bulletred:

Hmm... ya know, it's been forever n a day since I've done any true Sonic fanart...but not as long since the last time I did traditional art, but I took a different spin on this. Different meaning I actually put some effort into it.

This is the first time I tried usin' a light board for inking (which I did at school because I don't have one at home yet). It was different lemme tell ya. I like it because I don't have to worry about the eraser taking away from the inks, since normally I'd just do the inks on the same page as the sketch.

The island thing sucks, but I like how the clouds turned out (there's more gray in them, but I couldn't get it too well from my scanner). However the concept for it was based from that Sonic the Hedgehog OVA (aka. Sonic the Hedgehog the Movie) and their take with the whole "Land of the Skies" thingy.

Over all, I like how it turned out. It's not the best, but it was fun to feel like I almost completed something. ^^; I couldn't figure out what to do with that last bit of space on the right, so I just wrote in it.

:) Enjoy~

The bird looks like a prehistoric flightless bird called Phoroshracos.
