The Kid by BlazeTBW The Kid by BlazeTBW
Sketch trade with :icondroseattack: of The Kid from Bastion~

...|D Which I just discovered recently. So far for what I have played, I enjoy the experience thus far. Though, probably would've been easier if I got it for the 360 vs my laptop (because my pc gaming experience is like....... near flatline lol).

I had considered some of the other weapons, but I couldn't find too many good full references of them at the time. ...Maybe in the future~

So... sketch trade yes... ...It didn't quite stop there but I can still call it a sketch lol. (That and I enjoy working monochrome~(

Anyway, enjoy~

I think you've done this really well. It's a fantastic game all the way through, but the ending was absolutely stellar. I do like the art-style and variety of weapon choices, too, as it appears you do :)

I'm barely touching the surface of the game lol- I need to get back and finish it for myself.

And thanks~

It doesn't take THAT long to finish; I REALLY recommend putting in the time, it's a truly wonderful game :)

I have become disillusioned with child heroes; they act too much like adults. In real life, kids that young complain, they whine, they make bad decisions based on selfishness, they scare easy, and they have no power to do anything of real value. I know why people do it, of course, but it is becoming increasingly farcical as time goes on--especially if you have spent any time with the recent brood of children inept parents are raising these days... :ohmygod:

This is pretty cool, though. Low stance, heavy hammer, shows power, bolstered by the red, which represents passion and fire. The shading is good, the spiky hair shows it is tousled, and the fingers are straight and well-defined, showing his determination as he has a firm grip on that thing.

The thing we do not see too often from you, however, is a character's shadow. It looks really authentic. The haze near the top shows us that the light source is closer to the floor. Nice :salute:

:sherlock: Actually the funny thing-

In game I expected him to sound a bit younger, but (to me) he sounds like he's pretty close to nearing his 20s. Then again the narrator's a genuinely old man |D so probably would've called him "kid" even if he was a bit older lol.

But yeah, I like the interesting the design that they gave him though, he looks like he was meant to be taken seriously for a change.

For some actual children though... while I'll agree that your description is very prominent, it's not to say that there aren't others who are defined otherwise- (...but again they're not as "advertised" as the latter unfortunately). Granted, I find myself guilty of being a coward /D; then again, until people come to know me, they wouldn't exactly take me as threatening either lol.

---

And yeah... something I've noticed that some have become very lax in is the flat photoshop silhouette. (ei. Taking the complete character pose, flattening that, and turning that into the shadow- instead of drawing it in.) And I've been guilty of that too myself... I've come to find that while for some shots it works, others it sucks away what depth there could've been despite it being a 2D drawn image.

I hope I stick to drawing most if not all my silhouettes in the future though... /D; but sometimes I just can't help it with those ones that are straight behind where that works lol.

The shadow is really awesome in this! Adds a nice bit of composition to the piece :D
