Part 2 of a series of 12.

The rat is the first animal of the zodiac. It's main element is water (hence why it's the same background as the boar/pig).

Brown = Earth
Grey + Dark Grey = Metal
Blue = Water
Green = Wood
Orange/red + Yellow = Fire

The Kanji means "the rat".

Next will be the Ox.

Well, I guess the water as the main element for the rat is fitting. Rats can swim for a km without resting, and can tread water for 3 days.

i really love this because youre one of the only artists ive seen so far who have made the rat look so cute! i do have a question, though. im new compared to most of the people on deviantart, so excuse me if this is a stupid question, but what exactly is a tablet?

I think you'll be finding a lot more cute rats as you browse~

Anyway, a tablet is basically ...well a tablet that you can connect to your computer and draw with (they come with a sort of pen-shaped stylus). The tablet while plugged into your computer tracks the stylus as well as the pressure and stroke direction and such that can be used with just about any drawing program.
